Kodchadri Uncovered

Kodchadri Uncovered:

It was all set for us to do something different in this vacation.
All prodigies on 8th of January evening decided a trip to Kodchadri and had planned to leave on 16th midnight of same month for 3 to 4 days. Due to various reasons we left our town-Tumkur on 15th at around 2300hrs, We were all prepared with DVD-movies and songs to elate our journey, but unfortunately the dvd-player was not working, we still enjoyed by pulling each other legs.

Itinerary of our trip : “Tumkur-----Kollur------Kodchadri------
Murdeshwara-----Jog-Falls-----
Honnemaradu-----Lion-Safari-----Tumkur”.

“THE Day” i.e. on 15th January:

We the prodigies(Introducing- Venu, Varun,Aradya,Srinivas,Bharath,Rushab(not here))
went out to buy, the junk foods, fruits and reconfirmed the slate of the trip with travels. We were well planned and we knew all the circumstances that we could come across during the trekking. So we had a checklist which contained:

1. Torch
2. Knife
3. Fruits
4. Chewing gum
5. Water bottles
6. Biscuits
7. Camera
8. Medical-Kit

We got prepared with all the necessary things and we were ready to leave Tumkur by 2300hrs.

Day-1

The journey started and the jokes too, we had two or three tea stops
to keep driver awake and reached Kollur at 0730hrs on 16th. We had booked two rooms in Lalithambika Hotel.

We got fresh, had break-fast (Chapathi=Roti) and left to Karekatte(about 10km from Hotel) from were we took right turn, which led us to a muddy road and after 3km or 4km we reached a kaka hotel from where we started our trekking, time was around 0930hrs. Everybody said Kodchadri is about 6km from there but we felt it’s more than that.

Its was a very good trekking experience,

the fruits that we carried helped us a lot, by the time we reach battru mane in Kodchadri it was about 1420hrs, everyone was very much tired and emaciated, the battru-Sitharam(Contact Number: 9242281932) gave us something to eat and we ate it relentlessly.

Hungry was out of the way, but due to tiredness we could not resist from sleep. We had a nap and we went to “Sarvagna-Peeta- A small temple like, inside you can notice a Shankaracharya’s effigy” where we could feel nature as a true elysian, we basically went to watch sunset. It was a wonderful viewpoint. And the cameras never had rest! We took snaps in all possible angles. We came back at around 1900hrs and again had very tasty food. The surroundings of battru mane has couple of temples, we visited that and informed all our elder about the halting at battru mane for that day. We slept well that day, dreaming all about “NATURE”.

Day-2

We got up at around 0730hrs, everybody was busy in answering the nature calls, there were plenty of waiting calls and missed calls since there was only one mobile! :) (Bathroom).

After all that fun, we had breakfast which was awesome (Chapathi=Chapathi) and we asked Sitharam uncle to book a jeep for us from Kodchadri to Kollur, since many of us were not ready to trek down (We asked our car driver to be at Lalithambika hotel when we started our trek from kaka hotel). We experienced a monster truck drive even though it was just a jeep, since road was very dusty, uneven and cluttered.

After reaching Lalithambika hotel- Kollur, we left to Murdeshwara where we enjoyed a lot. We visited Murdeshwara temple, which was stupendous. After that we experienced a new dimension of enjoyment with parasailing(depends on wind speed), boating. By the time we are done with boating it was around 1930hrs, we went back to our room, which was in front of other part of sea. We got ready to play near seashore with all the equipments required to reach the peak of enjoyment, again cameras never had rest! We came back to the room, got fresh, had dinner, and the day ended with lots of jokes on the bed.

Day-3

As per the plan we reached Jog-Falls around 1130hrs, bad luck for the day started from here. Since there was no much water in falls we couldn’t feel the real thrill of Jog-Falls (August is the right time to visit this place to feel the real thrill of Jog-Falls). But the bad luck was in some way helpful for us, since jogad-Gundi was completely visible we could able discover new photographers with in us. We took around 120photos in all the angles. We really felt, “Nature is the house of Beauty”.

Then we moved to Honnemaradu, which is around 12km from Jog-Falls. It was a fantastic island, to reach the actual island we need to travel in a punt, but as I mentioned earlier bad luck was all the way following us like Bethalla on the 3rd day, because the boats were not at service since the wind speed was high than expected to have safe boating. So we spent some time there and left to Lion Safari after having our lunch on the way. We reached there at 1720hrs, our Bethalla again troubled us, since the Lion Safari closes at 1700hrs, but our hero Venu used his all contacts to make a way for us inside.
We could only see the ZOO, and Lion Safari was not possible since all the gates and cages were closed by that time. We left there at around 1825hrs and reached Tumkur at around 0115hrs, we had dinner on the way.
